Frost yawned and got up from her nap. Patted down grass lay under her. She looked around again. Behind her was a rocky ridge rising up behind her and ahead of her, at the bottom of the rough terrain, was the river, bending towards her. She licked her lips and trotted down to the river, going quickly. She stopped at the bottom and took a sip from the rushing water. It quenched her thirst and looked up around the flourishing trees and foliage. She loved spring. It signifies new life. That and it was great to get out after freezing during the winter. She looked around for a while thinking about what next.
She had just been wandering pointlessly ever since she had left her parents and siblings. Nothing too interesting, though. Some hungry winter days, a few hot and boring Summer days. Maybe a few sniffs of another wolf. She had thought about joining a pack, but she hadn't found one yet, not to mention that she just didn't know about it. It seemed slightly restraining. She enjoyed wandering. Finding new places, visiting again, discovering, and just doing a bit of running around and traveling had this enjoyment that she didn't like the idea of leaving. Perhaps she could find another wolf to travel with, or find the most perfect spot ever, but she still probably couldn't lose it. Both prospects, some company, it did get lonely every once in a while, when she was cooped up, thinking about her old life with her siblings, and the loveliness of traveling and wandering, both had tugged at her so long. Perhaps she could find a pack allowing free rein...
She sniffed the air, downwind of a rabbit, probably upwind of some squirrels. Rabbit were hard, but she was fast too, maybe not too tough, but fast, swift, and a wolf, after all. She looked in its direction and after a moment, started up to it, slowly and quietly at first, and then right before it would sense her, dashed forward quickly. It immediately sprinted forward and then dodged to the left, Frost in hot pursuit. They ran in a crazy chase for a few minutes and then she finally overran it and bit the neck. She sat down, panting and looked around again. She was a lot farther away than where she was earlier, so she grabbed the limp rabbit, and headed slowly back downstream to where she had been earlier.

``She was unsure about these lands. The wolves here were different, and seemed to have strange mutations and personality alterations. Toapa couldn’t help but notice that she was plain, and had yet to attribute any weird transformation that the other wolves have obtained. And yet, she couldn’t find any complaints in her lack of change. Goat’s horns, uncommon colors, wings, fangs, none of these seemed to be positive changes in her opinion. In fact, Toapa saw them more as a setback in nature that classified these wolves as freaks. Perhaps it was harsh, but Toapa was not accustomed this strange land and had yet to accept the differences in this solitude town. And beside who are we kidding, Toapa is a bitch and will think whatever she damn well pleases.
`` She smirked at her vulgar attitude as she approached the water’s edge. Toapa noted the fresh scent of a female wolf, but by the looks of it she had just missed her. Toapa shrugged slightly and decided it was for the best that her timing was off; she wasn’t in the mood for conversation anyways. She looked at her reflection pondering on what she would do for the remainder of the day. She’d just finished a meal earlier, a nice sparrow if you must know, and considered finding a nice shady spot to take a nap. She winked at herself after admiring herself for a second longer, turned around, and caught scent of an approaching wolf. The fur along her neck prickled slightly, and her ears folded back to display an uneasy stance. Toapa looked around the clearing, searching for the intruder.

[bg=black][atrb=border,0,table][atrb=width,447,table] As she walked back down, she smelled it before she heard it. Actually, her. The smell of dead rabbit wafted right under her nose, making it hard to smell anything else, but she smelled her, another wolf. Probably a loner. She dropped the rabbit down, and then thought about what to do. It would be slightly, well, rude, to just ignore her presence, but she wouldn't be happy coming up.
So she just walked to the river, tok a drink, and inched closer, then stopped. She then assumed a slightly cautious stance. She could run if she needed to at a moment's notice. The other wolf would make the first move.
Sorry but my muse keeps running away right as I try to make another post.

She was in no mood to entertain a little juvenile wolf. ”This is not how I imagined spending my day, Toapa thought cynically to herself. She studied the female for a moment, wondering what her story was. For some reason, although she didn’t really care to hear the story, she liked to imagine and create her own history for wolves. She imagined this female had run away from home, mad at mommy and daddy for not letting her go off on her own hunt. She was probably proving to them that she was a magnificent hunter, and could do just fine on her own. At least, Toapa imagined if she were young again that would be something she might do.
“Didn’t your mom ever tell you not to stare?” Toapa asked with a twang of irritation. Although this young wolf was not a puppy, Toapa had little patience for this young wolf. She studied the wolf further, and realized that the wolf not nearly as young as she had first perceived. Instead, the wolf was just smaller than average, portraying a younger status. Toapa noticed the muscle under her pelt, not a lot, but enough to show age and strength in her legs. Toapa assumed she might be a fast runner, and could possibly be a good attribution to the pack life.
“What the hell Toapa, you’re not a damn recruiter.” She rolled her eyes to herself, and sighed.
“Can I help you?” She asked, less irritated.

The gray/brown wolf observed her, and so did she. Frost took in as much as she could. She didn't seem to think high of her. She didn't know why. After a moment, the wolf said, "Didn't your mom tell you not to stare?" First she was shocked at that, then irritated. Ahem?! her mom? Not to stare? Oh, and she wasn't staring? she was slightly confused, some part of her was wondering why on earth she would ask or say something so... Odd. But the rest of her was fuming with indignation. Completely rude to say or ask something like that. The confused part of her started trying to cool her down. It mostly worked, she knew that retaliation or any other rudeness may escalate into an enemy. That wouldn't be good. Definitely not. So she tried to shove that to the back of her mind. "Can I help you", she asked, less rudely. See? The tiny part of her brain said, suffocating down the part that was still miffed. She probably just hadn't taken it all in yet. Still, it doesn't take a lot to irk Frost, and it takes some time and work to remove a grudge. For some reason, she tended to have a memory for bad, rude, or insulting things, but not as much for other stuff. "Not really, I was just returning to eat," she replied.

``She sensed a mess of insults must be running through this females mind. She only imagined this because of the frustration she knew she always burdened on others. Her snappy tongue always irritated others, resulting in an extreme dislike for Toapa. Sure, most said they hated her. But the feeling was mutual so no hard feelings. Toapa was a cynical creature sometimes. She was infamously known for purposefully creating awkward and sticky situations.
`` She leaned back on her haunches, making sure to keep a less threatening stance. “What would you do if I took your meal, claiming it as my own? You know. I sure love free meals.” The words were mocking, and displayed a different image than her physical position. Toapa was curious to see what the female did. Would she trust her instinct and trust Toapa, realizing that she did not pose a threat. Or would she gamble her chances, risking it all because of a few mocking words. Thus far the female had kept her cool, but Toapa was searching for trouble. And this little target seemed to be a perfect aiming point.

The fae sat in an innocent and unthreatening pose. "What would you do if I took your meal, claiming it as my own? You know. I sure love free meals," she said. Frost raised her eyes at this. Highly unlikely, seeing as she wasn't even ready to start moving, and that the rabbit was behind Frost, not the wolf. I would probably take it and run, she said, as if she had taken it at face value and it was normal conversation. Normally she would've probably bristled, but she knew that this wouldn't help. This wolf was probably one who went around looking for trouble, and maybe enjoyed getting reactions. So she didn't do anything but slightly make her muscles less tense.

``'Then you better run, because the big bad wolf is about to change your attitude'. Toapa smiled at the female, as she sarcastically, and silently, thought to herself. She was always testing others to figure out what made them tick. She always tried to find their flaws, and what drove them crazy. She was fascinated with what if situations and was a master at playing games. "You're not half bad kid, the words were said in a plain tone, giving no immediate praise or congratulations. Toapa rarely spoke positively towards others, but today was a special occasion. Toapa saw a little bit of herself in this other female. And another they were the same age, but not equals in her eyes, she imagined she could... tolerate the others presence.
`` Toapa could not smell a pack scent on this wolf, and wondered if she chose to be a loner, or if she had been banished from one of the packs around these parts. Toapa had the faint scent of Pyro on her fur, but it would not signal that she was a pack member. If anything, it might be mistaken for a small rogue gang. The pack had not grown enough to form a strong pack scent, and for now, Toapa was okay with that. Pack life was not something she was sure she could grow accustomed to - but for whatever reason, she wanted to see if she could still function under the rule of another. Pryo was a powerful male, and so far, he had Toapa pressed firmly under his paw. She was not a puppet on strings, but instead, a loyal member.
`` Toapa watched to see if the female would start to eat her meal, or if she would save it for later, when Toapa was no longer around. Maybe she was a female who felt uncomfortable eating around others. Afraid that she would be made fun of for lack of manners, or whatever the usual excuse was. "Go on, eat" [/b] Toapa said. "Or are you hunting for your pack?[/b] The question held in the air, as Toapa searched for more answers and understanding about the wolf that stood before her.[/color][/justify] Lyrics: "Girl Gone Wild" - MadonnaNotes:evilness[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"You're not half bad kid." Frost raised her eyes. Kid? Of course. Still looking to irk her. She was irritated, but she knew it would only escalate worse if she challenged that. "Go on, eat" she said. "Or are you hunting for your pack?" Frost didn't think much about that. But why would she think she had a pack? She didn't smell like anyone else. And she was pretty sure there weren't any packs around... Well, maybe it was just to not make it so short. as for eating, in front of her? No way. She liked her privacy, thanks. I don't have a pack. She said, avoiding the first question. She wondered who this wolf was. She would want to figure out who she was too, but she would figure it out, and she wasn't a nosy one... She looked back at her. So what was she from? Pack? Or just another loner? She wasn't the best wolf she'd ever met either. Oh well. She was a "go with the flow" wolf, and tended to wing it to the current situation. Sometimes she would think about the future, but not when there was such a random variable as wolf. Especially... This wolf.

``Toapa felt as if she was playing twenty questions with the other female. This wolf was the quiet type, who only answered when spoken to. It appeared as if the female had no interest in Toapa what so ever. Seriously kid? Not interested in me? How insulting. It was unusual but yet intriguing. Toapa tilted her head slightly and decided to turn the tables ever so slightly. She wasn’t going to speak and would just wait to see what happened. The unnamed wolf looked at Toapa, but not to display dominance. It more or less gave the signal that she was not intimidated by the female. And surprisingly, Toapa was not infuriated by this. The wolf, although not overly submissive, held her ground against Toapa without shouting insults. Toapa found a miniscule amount of respect for the female and, for the moment, laid off on the insults.
`` The two wolves sat in silence as Toapa looked deep into the female’s eyes. Sure it was probably bullying the female into confusion, but Toapa was okay with that. She was an unusual female and enjoyed leaving lasting impressions on the wolves that she met. She never cared if they were good first impressions, the fact is: she would always be remembered. The words, “I don’t have a pack”, echoed into the air with no immediate response. Toapa was not asked if she belonged to a pack, so there was no need to volunteer that information up. After all, if this female wanted to play a game of secrecy, Toapa would join in. She loved playing games, and even if she didn’t set the rules, she would make them up as she went along. Let the games begin, my new friend.

Her deep amber eyes swept again around the wolf. The femme was silent. No answer? All right then... "And you?" She asked.
She smelled of another wolf, a male. She might be in a pack, maybe not... They weren't in pack lands, but the pack members weren't confined into their own territory. Why would she be here anyway if she was in a pack? She waved away the questions. She'd learn... Eventually. However how hard it would be to pry the concealed information from her words.
This would be fun. Most interesting and exciting thing since meeting her oldest brother a year ago. Wandering had never been as interesting as this. The end of her tail swept up a small puff of dirt as she continued to wait for the gray brown green-eyed fae. SHe didn't notice anything new, but she knew that this wolf would be, her gut instinct said for no reason, a good asset to a pack. Something about her seemed very useful for a pack. Somehow her sharp tongue would be useful. She just felt it. maybe she was wrong about that. Maybe not.
A breeze drifted from upstream. It ruffled her fur and tossed a couple small leaves up and down for a second. The scent of the rabbit she had caught drifted down. She smelled and heard another rabbit, not knowing what was so close to it, check its fallen comrade. Well it seemed like that anyway. It shifted direction and she heard the rabbit hop away.

``There we go. Toapa finally got the response she wanted. The female finally showed a hint of curiousness about Toapa, proving that once again Toapa was of interest. She stared at the female before giving her elaborate response. "I'm beta of the Fovo's pack, ruled by the great Pryo." She flashed a grin, showing her deep pride for her pack. "If you know anything about the Fovo's, you should always remember we are the finest group of wolves. We are the strongest, most level headed bunch." Toapa only spoke truth from her point of view. Sure, every pack thought they were the best. But come on, did the other packs have a Toapa and Pyro duo? I think not. So yeah, Fovo's win. The other packs lose.
`` "Have you ever considered joining? If not, now would be the perfect time." Ah what the hell, a bit of recruiting for Pyro could do no harm. After all, I'm sure that male was itching to put a few wolves under the test. And this female seemed to be the spy type. She spoke little and had key observational skills. She might actually do well in the pack life. But, as well all know, a wolf must be willing. You can never force one into the pack life. Those always turn out to be traitors. And Toapa would have none of that!

"I'm beta of the Fovo's pack, ruled by the great Pryo."
Frost was slightly impressed. Beta. Not an easy rank to get. Of course, it depended on the size of the pack. It there were only three wolves, it wouldn't be that hard, but a real full pack, like at least eight wolves, then it would be something hard-earned.
She grinned. "If you know anything about the Fovo's, you should always remember we are the finest group of wolves. We are the strongest, most level headed bunch."
And there, was the bragging. The self-pride in one's team that rarely was missing from a wolf. This was slightly annoying, seeing as not many wolves she knew would be so bold as to say all of that, or at least, she wouldn't, but Frost reminded herself not to judge by this. Well, she could agree with the level-headed part. At least for this wolf. She didn't seem to spring up in emotion. Except for now. Then again, she hadn't given much to spring on. Strongest, perhaps. She still didn't think this high of such obvious and blunt pride in one's pack.
"Have you ever considered joining? If not, now would be the perfect time."
No, she wouldn't. She had been considering a pack, but she needed to learn about this "Fovos" pack. Can't end up in one she doesn't agree with. Then again, this might be her only chance. She decided to risk it and reply no. If she was never invited into another or if Fovos was a nice pack, oh well, but better safe than sorry.
Maybe later... While her tone suggested that it was a probably not. She still liked to keep her options open, but deciding to show favoritism wasn't something she would be interested in. It never seemed like a good idea.
