The day was just beginning, dawn's sun breaking up over the horizon to paint gold and blue onto the softly winding river. Silent steps found their way to the water's edge. A black nose lowered to the crystal clear liquid and sniffed gently before lifting upward once again. The gray she-wolf to whom the nose belonged quickly skimmed the perimeter with her icy gaze. Oddly enough, she was the only one out here. Of course, this was the open - another creature could have easily been lingering back in the cover of the trees. The thought of a stranger ambushing her made Trydan stiffen ever so slightly, her soft tail flicking in discomfort. She had been a loner for much too long to ever truly be comfortable around another wolf. Especially strangers. And now that she had found her way to this new region of land... Well, who knew who, and what, she could run into.
The thought was disturbing, to say the least. It caused a chill to run down the female's spine as she stood beside the bubbling river. A brief moment passed, and the sun's rays broke across the land and danced upon her mutely colored coat. Warming, comforting, enough to break her from her locked posture. Trydan blinked her pale eyes and glanced over the land surrounding her once more before she turned to look down at the river. It seemed to be the only thing making a noise out here. Her ears turned back slightly, just barely tugging on the ink-like streams that ran down to her eyes. The female would've at least expected to hear some sort of life out here, but the only sounds that echoed around her gray-rimmed ears were the river's hushed lapping and her own breath as it raked in and back out of her lungs. One unsteady beat, two. Her heart stuttered as the stress pulled on the muscles in her lean body.
Tension was tangible in the morning air. Before, it had had the faintest presence in the gentle breeze, but now it defined the very structure of the air particles as they swirled around the surface of the earth. The she-wolf was the main source of the uncomfortable tinge in the air - a deep paranoia had swept over her tall yet feminine frame and had mingled itself into the workings of her mind. Once again, her eyes flashed around. Nobody who was visible. But somebody, somebody, was there. She could just feel it. If Trydan was going to let this stress take over her body completely, she could be at an increased risk for having her joints locking up on her. And that could not happen. Not now. Not when she knew she was right about there being another creature out there in the still dark treeline. She didn't want to make a show of her newly discovered cause of caution, though. So, she would just wait them out. See if she really was right. Trydan turned her eyes back onto the river and lowered her head to take up a few laps of water, her ears swiveled back to catch all sound behind and around herself. Oh, how her hair was standing on end in this tainted atmosphere.

//. As dawn approached the once pitch black woods began to grey. The sun, quickly crawling up the horizon, broke through the tall ebony trees, casting wicked shadows down on the ground. Depicted in this scene stood a tall, slender lupine. Long, black, arching wings sprouted from her shoulders with perfectly groomed feathers layering until they ruffled slightly along the edges. Delicate features showed the stunning beauty this cunning wolf obtained. Traveling down her thin frame, past the stick thin legs you could see lethal talons shooting out from all four paws. While this slender she-wolf had not the muscle power which so many lupines had, her quick wit and manipulative ways made her a highly underestimated and deadly foe. Many could mistake her as a attractive, yet clueless vixen, however that was anything but the case. In that beautiful head of her's was a strong and capable mind, and among the devious plans were racing thoughts; this she-wolf was always thinking. Whether it be where to hunt for prey, or how to destroy one's precious heart piece by piece. It wasn't very hard, seeing as she lured each brute with just one look, but it was a delicate process, and one she very much enjoyed. Probably because if it were possible to have a heart made of stone, she would have it. She felt no sympathy for others, if anything she enjoyed watching them suffer. The lupine's name was Nyx, after the Greek goddess of night. Legend is that this magnificent creature used to be a part of heaven, but now, after rebelling she was cast down to hell. Sent out to do the devil's dirty work; corrupt the living. Luckily, there just rumors, and no one has actually been able to prove it. But there's still a possibility.
//. The beautiful jet black wolf stood, observing her surroundings. By now the sun had inched its way farther up the clouded sky, breaking through barriers of the grey, fluffy things. Nyx no longer blended into the background, and because of this she decided it was time for her to make an appearance in these new and uncommon lands. The lupine already knew of a being near by, and it didn't take long before she was at the edge of the trees, still slightly concealed by undergrowth. The vixen watched the fellow wolf stiffen, and laughed at her attempt to conceal herself doing so. It wasn't hard to see, and maybe she was right to be scared, after all she was with in the presence of Nyx. As the following turn of events remained uneventful Nyx became impatient, and she began to second guess choosing this wolf as her next victim. Maybe she should have gone with a more entertaining guest; males seemed to do the trick. However, Nyx already being here, decided to try this one out, see how it went. After she could always just kill the wolf and try someone else. As she continued to observe her new found prey, thoughts began wandering in other directions. Maybe she should try something different? Be nice for once? Though she doubted she could be, anything but mean was a hassle to work with, and connections with other wolves was a pain to have. If they ever needed anything they would come to you, if they were ever in trouble you were obligated to help, if you didn't help them out you would make a vengeful enemy, and all and all it took up too much of her precious time, not to mention it was hardly as fun. No, cross out the nice idea, she'd just be her usual self.
//. Snapping back to the present Nyx was not happy with what she was brought as she did so. A wolf, still acting like no one was behind her, pretending that she wasn't scared shitless. The beauty's eyes narrowed into serpentine slits for a moment, letting all her disgust and hateful disappointment in this mysterious wolf rush out in a second of weakness, then she composed herself and stealthily broke through the trees. As she walked, no more like glided, up to her victim not a twig broke, not a leaf rustled, not one sound was heard in the tense atmosphere around them but the gurgling of the stream. Well, not until Nyx spoke with in one musical, wispy breath, just barely audible over the bubble of the stream. No doubt, though, this femme's ears would be finely tuned, waiting for a wolf to reveal itself, and so she would.
"Boo." She smirked slightly, optics clearly showing her amusement at the prospect of this wolf startling to her hushed words, she was not afraid of this femme, and she would show her emotions however she please. Then she sat, not revealing herself from behind the vixen. She wanted this wolf to turn and acknowledge her presence, and until then she didn't plan on moving. As she flicked her tail over her front paws daintily, she waited for a reply, wondering just what type of personality the femme had to offer. Would her wits be with her? If not it would be a tantalizing process, trying to break what was already broken. In fact, it probably wouldn't even work. Instead she'd just enjoy killing the crazy thing. Oh well, she'd just have to wait to find out, no way she knew anything about this wolf, and she hated making assumptions before actually knowing she would be right. Mostly because she hated being wrong.[/blockquote]

To many, Trydan was the very image of an ordinary wolf. Other than the blackened streaks that twined and seeped out from her eyes and around her paws, well, she was pretty normal looking. A soft coat of pale creamy white and silver and gray - nothing special there. Pretty typical, pretty common... Her eyes, though, did prove to have something of difference to them. Yes, plenty of wolves had blue eyes, but none had ever quite matched hers. Trydan's eyes were as pale as the fresh morning sky, and frosted over with ice-like patterns to give them the chilled strength they withheld. Originally, they were just a pure, simple, boring blue, but after she was struck by lightning, they changed. The icy fragments broke out across her iris' and joined together to look like ice crystals would on the corner of your window one cold day. So, at least Trydan wasn't all too boring and ordinary. She had something of significance to her, even if it was small. And that was alright with her. She was never the attention seeker, always a follower and never a leader. If she could keep others' prying eyes away from her sleek form, then she was satisfied enough to go on with the day. But when the spotlight was shone on her... That was when things got messy.
Although the sun had now risen even further, there was still a chill in the air. Trydan was still standing beside the river with her front paws just centimeters away from the lapping water's edge. Her eyes were directed straight downward, focus on listening to her surroundings causing her other senses to recede away. There seemed to be the faintest ruffle in the wind, almost like the sound of the breeze brushing past through something's fur. Trydan knew quite well that it wasn't her own fur that she was hearing. Definitely, another presence was here with her, and by the way she felt the back of her neck tingle ever so slightly, she knew they were drawing nearer. Whoever they were, they were quite good at keeping themselves quiet. Even the slick rocks that dotted the shoreline weren't enough of a nuisance to break this creature's silence. The she-wolf stood in the same position as before - head bowed slightly, legs straight and boxed in alignment, ears curved backward - when she felt the oppression on the open air behind her. So, the other being had decided to come out to her after all.
The smooth voice that just barely rang over the trickle of the river was expected, if anything. Trydan knew it was coming, and so when it broke out through the air, she wasn't quite as startled as she would've been if she hadn't been paying strict attention for the past ten minutes. Another female, wolf by the scent that now wafted around Trydan. The silvery she-wolf felt her ears lay back further before they flickered back to face forward again by force. She wouldn't come off as unsociable just yet. Trydan turned, eying the creature behind her. Jet black in pelt, thin as a twig, and weighted down with large, sweeping wings. Bright blue eyes stared back into her chilled ones. The wolf before her wasn't quite too intimidating... But, she could be wrong, she had learned that plenty of times in the past. Trydan lifted her chin slightly as she sat down also, right on the brink of being in the river. "Hello..." she said quietly, keeping her eyes straight ahead on the vixen. "Can I help you?" It was the first thing that came to mind, and Trydan felt her ears flicker back again after she said it. Obviously, this wolf was not here for anything in particular. Just to fluster her thoughts it seemed. And, well, to be honest, she was succeeding.
