Nemesis shifed her legs, the lactic acid in her muscles causing a burn in them from being in the same position for so long, she had been stalking a young colt from the herd before her, but he wouldn't stray far from the lead stallion or his mother, and Nemesis was not a fan of getting trampled. She growled softly, eyeing the little bay as it finally started trotting closer, the only horse following it a little chestnut filly. Nemesis shifted again, bunching up her hind legs, baring her teeth and fangs, and prepared to leap forth. Then, just as she pounced, the wind changed, the filly squealed in fear, and the stallion attacked, Nemesis, as soon as she landed, was the target of a flurry of flying hooves and other various apendages. Instead of lunging for a fully grown stallion, which was a very dumb move for a single wolf, she scrambled her paws to halt her foreword motion and turned, running back through the grass with the big horse right on her tail. As she ran, a single thought raced through her head. Well this sucks.

Well...this looks like a pretty sticky situation. Should I help, or should I just watch? The brute thought from his hiding place in the shadows. He hadn't been here long. He had been searching the lands for some wolves to draw into his pack, and if he helped this wolf maybe he'll have a better chance. He had to chuckle as the female got attacked by the stallion. He slid to his columns, the bulk of his weight now off the ground. Hellfire began to lope beside the pair from his perch on top of a small ridge. If I help her, I could ask her for something in return. After all, it's the least she can do for me. His muscles were bunching underneath his black coat; columns reaching out to gain more ground as the duo sped up. Dammit! These damn wings are getting in my way! he snarled softly, before using his muscles to retract them closer to his body. Hellfire had been trained as a pup to kill, to destroy, and to leave no hope. He didn't help unless he knew he could get something out of it. He was just a black streak darting after the pair. He was agile, but had plenty of muscle to back himself up. He was built to kill. He had long columns for speed, large lungs for distance, muscles to deliver the killing blow, and large paws to help himself out a little bit. He gazed out before him for a few meters, and saw a bend in the ridge. He gazed back down in front of the fleeing wolf and pursuing stallion. It was now, or never. His muscles contracted, and his hind legs pulled the rest of his body back for the spring. Front pillars stretched out he launched himself squarely into the stallion. He was a big wolf, and it pleased him when both the stallion, and himself tumbled across the ground like rag dolls. He was up on his feet in seconds; looking every bit like a demon that he was. His lips peeled back to reveal sharp ivories that could devastate some one if he decided to dig them into your jugular. He was snarling like the devil himself; twin harks pulled firmly back against his crown. He held himself rigidly; his crown down, and the nape of his neck bristled. He hoped the wolf he had just saved had enough sense to help him, otherwise he would have another female on his hit list. Three red stripes traveled the length of his body; each starting at the very base of his nose. The middle one traveled down the bridge of his nose, down his poll, and then traveled down his spine. The other two stripes of red split from the base, and traveled across each cheek before traveling the length of his sides. To top it off, a skull was seen on one of his shoulders. Hellfire was not a brute this stallion wanted to mess with. Without warning, his wings snapped open just to make himself look bigger. Another snarl was heard, and then a louder bark. One that was just as menacing. He waited, and watched the stallion to make it's move. It would surely meet it's death with two wolves here. Hellfire chance a look over his shoulder to see if the femme was still with him. [/blockquote]

Nemesis panted as she attempted to weave out of the way of this stallion's hooves, yelping as one nicked her tail, not enough to hurt, just enough to surprise her. Then she heard a thud and the sound of the stallion squealing in fury before a loud tussle behind her, she skidded to a stop and turned, red eyes catching sight of the male wolf as he snarled in the big horse's face. His expression devilish, she continued to pant, but seeing as this male was brave or stupid enough to help her, decided it was the least she could do to help him out. She stalked up behind him, calming her breathing and baring her teeth, fangs even more menacing than the canines of a normal wolf, she forced a bit of venom through them, causing it to drip from them in a drop each, black ears, one with a 'v' shape nicked deep inside it, were pinned back. the stallion, seeing no sense in taking on two wolves, snorted and turned, running scared. Nemesis sighed, tail lowering from it's raised position, ears pricking as she turned to the brute beside her, eyeing the red markings, the wings, and the skull marking on his shoulder. Interesting enough. She decided, shrugging. "Thanks for the help, thought I was gonna loose my tail for a moment there." She stated, voice unemotional. "Name's Nemesis. Yours?" She asked, wanting to know just who this brutish male was.

A small smirk curled the corners of his mug into a devilish grin as he watched the female stalk up behind him. She held herself rigidly as well; her tail raised, lips peeled back to reveal fangs that were even more devastating than his own. He could see the venom that was dripping from them. Even before the drops of deadly poison hit the ground they were hissing. He liked this wolf, but what exactly could he get from her. This was his pondering question as he snarled viciously once more. To his delight, the stallion snorted with indignity knowing that it was beaten by the two ravenous wolves. Hellfire smirked with victory; his wings pulling in to cradle his body once more. He still had his back turned to the she-wolf, but it didn't come as a surprise when she spoke. He was not a lupine to be surprised. He turned his crown to regard her with a bored expression. His gold eyes betrayed no emotion just as her red, flaming ones showed no emotion. They seemed to be just alike, save for the physical differences.
At her words, Hellfire nodded. The smirk on his mug grew larger as he turned slightly to gaze at her. That's the way it seemed, didn't it? His voice was cool, but not like a fresh spring. It was cold, and icy like the snow when it blanketed the earth in the winter. He didn't care what she thought, he allowed his optics to size her up. He had something in mind for her, and right now she wasn't really in a position to deny him. She could have easily lost more than her tail, but he wasn't in the bragging mood to bring it up. As she introduced herself, he allowed himself to nod, but nothing more. He wasn't into chivalry. He wasn't a knight in shining armor, he wasn't her savior. He was here for his own selfish reasons. He allowed his jowls to open once more, and his lyrics slid off of his tongue easily before mingling in the air. Hellfire. He said simply. There was no 'how do you do's?" or "'tis a pleasure to meet you." Naw, that wasn't him. He glanced over her once more before speaking again. You look like a born killer. What is it exactly that you do. It wasn't a question, it was a demand. He expected her to answer it, just because that's how he was. He had always had a dominate personality, and this was not the exception.[/blockquote]

Nemesis sized up the male, he was big, fairly agile, probably more physically strong than her. But not to big of a challenge if he decided to attack. She streched, playing relaxed, because despite being on guard at every moment, she wasn't intimidated, he may be big, but she was tricky and sleek. She was venemous. She sat down as he gave his name. Hellfire? Someone's cocky. Even his name shows it.
You look like a born killer. What is it exactly that you do. His voice was still cold, she met his gaze, and smirked coldly. "Don't have any particular job yet. Just a loner." She stated, grinning sadistically. "But you're right about the killer part." She trotted around him, circling him and eyeing his form. "From the way you carry yourself, I'd put you in as a leader... probably a pack alpha or something. Everyone follows your orders, and if they don't they're screwed. Am I right?" She spoke calmly, giving her overview of him efficiently.

He couldn't help the grin that was starting to tug at the corners of his lips. This female was collected, and cool. She acted as if she weren't on guard, but he knew she was. He knew her type, for he was just like her. Calm, and collected on the outside, but always on guard on the inside. One can meet a disastrous fate if they let their wall down for just a moment.
Hellfire? Someone's cocky. Even his name shows it. This caused Hellfire to laugh out loud, and toss his crown back for a few fleeting moments. Cocky? Surely she didn't know who she was talking to! She was talking to the king of confidence. He had never met a challenge he couldn't take, so why should be be humble? Meekness was for the weak, or at least that's what he had been taught all of his life. With an indignant snort he answered, My dear Nemesis! You don't know how correct your statement is. It's always better to be over confident than under confident, wouldn't you say so? In all reality, he really didn't care what she had to say on that matter. He knew it to be true. As she trotted about him he eyed her closing, and watched her movements. Her words caused him to smirk softly. It was his signature. It was always there, and the brute never smiled. Why would he smile? He only had a place for joker grins, and smirks. Just a loner for now, eh? You seem like the type of femme to be lurking around in the shadows on an assassination assignment for a temporary boss. He got to his feet, and followed her movements so his back was never to her. He was fearless, but he wasn't stupid. This female could wreak havoc with him if she decided him to be an enemy. He was not, but he was neither friend. They both lay in neutral terms. His intelligent gold flecked eyes followed her every move, and his columns shifted around so he was pivoting in one spot. Never moving from her predatory circle, but never giving her an advantage on him either. "From the way you carry yourself, I'd put you in as a leader... probably a pack alpha or something. Everyone follows your orders, and if they don't they're screwed. Am I right?" He nodded his head, the smirk broadening on his face. Aye, lass. You are correct. Why do you say? He questioned, arching an eyebrow for a few moments.[/blockquote]

Nemesis smirked slightly as he threw his head back to laugh.
My dear Nemesis! You don't know how correct your statement is. It's always better to be over confident than under confident, wouldn't you say so? She shrugged, her expression returnign to neutral. "But to be overconfident could be ones downfall. I've known many a wolf who thought they could take on something they hadn't the skills to fight, who lost their lives." She stated, head tilting to the side as she stopped, facing him full on. He was smirking as he spoke.
Just a loner for now, eh? You seem like the type of femme to be lurking around in the shadows on an assassination assignment for a temporary boss. She sneered. "Temporary bosses, pah. Tried it before, they decide they want all evidence of my hiring removed, try to get their brutes to off me. Altogether a messy buisness." She spoke cooly, shaking off as she remembered the blood on her pelt from those jobs. She yawned. "And I suppose you have an interest in such a worker, considering you brought up the subject of an assasin for hire."

"But to be overconfident could be ones downfall. I've known many a wolf who thought they could take on something they hadn't the skills to fight, who lost their lives." Hellfire still had the same smirk upon his mug as he she spoke. What she said was true, but there was one thing that she left out. But to be a coward is a downfall in it's self. You accomplish nothing, but you lose nothing but your dignity.
Then she sneered at him. His brow knitted together for a moment before his harks flicked back as if she had insulted him. "Temporary bosses, pah. Tried it before, they decide they want all evidence of my hiring removed, try to get their brutes to off me. Altogether a messy buisness." He cackled softly, something that sounded evil all in it's self. See, that's where they all fail. You want something done right, you do it yourself. Actually, I'm glad that they couldn't get a hold of you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have the chance to have this lovely conversation with you. His sarcasm was thick, and it was easy to tell. It wasn't until she spoke again did he grow serious. "And I suppose you have an interest in such a worker, considering you brought up the subject of an assasin for hire." he shook his dome, his gold flecked optics closing for a moment before he stood up, and stretched his wings out. He had to work the kinks out of them before they locked up. No. He answered simply, the added I don't want an assassin for hire. What I'm looking for is an assassin for my pack. Some one who is always there, but no one knows they're there until it's too late. His optics intensified as he took a step toward her, his wings retracting to hug his lean back once more. I want an assassin. He said simply.[/blockquote]

Nemesis tilted her head to the side.
But to be a coward is a downfall in it's self. You accomplish nothing, but you lose nothing but your dignity. "I am not suggesting cowardice, simply knowing ones limits. And learning not to piss off someone who can and will kill you for it." She stated the quote matter of factly. She saw his face change, brows furrowing, as she sneered, but after her quote he cackled low.
See, that's where they all fail. You want something done right, you do it yourself. Actually, I'm glad that they couldn't get a hold of you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have the chance to have this lovely conversation with you. She chuckled. "I couldn't agree more." It was strange, to find another who shared her intentions and behaviors so much. She watched as he listened to her next quote, and waited for his reply, watching the wings unfurl, strech, and then furl again.
No. I don't want an assassin for hire. What I'm looking for is an assassin for my pack. Some one who is always there, but no one knows they're there until it's too late. He took a step towards her, and she didn't back down, her ears merely flicked. I want an assassin. She smirked. "Well, it seems that we have a similar interest, Hellfire." She stated. "I am in search of a steady job, you in search of an assasin ready to kill at a moments notice who only follows your orders." She took a step closer, meeting his gaze, despite him being taller than her, and grinned sadistically. "Perhaps there is a future for me in your pack?"

"I am not suggesting cowardice, simply knowing ones limits. And learning not to piss off someone who can and will kill you for it." At this, he nodded his head. Yes, it was true, and he hated to admit it. "Alright, you've won. There is no logic behind pissing someone else off that's bigger than you. Limitations are a good think.
|
He said, nodding his head once more in agreement. He liked this girl, she was smart. She was cunning, and knew exactly how to play her game. She was neither stepping over her boundaries, but she wasn't bowing to him either. She knew how to challenge him without actually challenging him, and he liked that. She would make a good edition to the pack, he was sure of it. yet, he would still need more pack members. Right now, he's only got one, and for the moment it was only temporary. He cleared his thoughts, and regarded her next words with a simple glance. There was nothing he could say to that so he didn't bother trying. Her next words captivated him, however. "Well, it seems that we have a similar interest, Hellfire." At this statement, he merely arched an eyebrow, and answered "Oh?" He could say no more for she was not yet finished speaking. "I am in search of a steady job, you in search of an assasin ready to kill at a moments notice who only follows your orders." A corner of his mouth curled up into a lopsided grin, his eyes sparking with evil misdeeds that he could do. However, as she stepped closer to him he looked down at her, meeting her gaze full on. "Perhaps there is a future for me in your pack?" Hellfire lowered his dome a little bit so his mug was only a few inches away from a single hark of her own. "Oh yes, lass. But first, would it be unreasonable to ask for a trial run? I'd so very much like to see you in action, and actually get what your going for." And with that, he backed away. The muscles in his legs bulged as he moved. He arched an eyebrow at her for a moment before pivoting on his heels, and started marching back for the horses herd. This time, he would offer her no help if she got herself into another sticky situation. This was, after all a trial. He didn't bother to look over his shoulder to see if she was following because he had a feeling that she would be. "Speech!" Nemesis sneered as he finally gave in to her logic.
"Alright, you've won. There is no logic behind pissing someone else off that's bigger than you. Limitations are a good think. She chuckled aloud, eyes glittering with mirth. "Knew you'd give in." She stated, shaking herself and flicking her good ear. She yawned, watching him as he contemplated her offer. He tilted his head down to meet her gaze, blood red meeting bright gold.
"Oh yes, lass. But first, would it be unreasonable to ask for a trial run? I'd so very much like to see you in action, and actually get what your going for." She stood, watching him trot towards the herd. She sighed. "If so then stand back, don't wanna have to worry about you getting your ass trampled." She sneered, trotting around the herd's left flank, eyeing one of the mares carefully, an injured foreleg made her a prime target, Nemesis wanted to do a good job at this trial run, to find another group for work would suck. She crouched, testing the air flow to be sure there wouldn't be a stampede, and began creeping closer. The mare stood with her right foreleg just above the ground. Nemesis pinned her ears back and bared her fangs and teeth, eyeing the mare. She finally got within range, glanced at the stallion, who grazed calmly nearby, and struck. her teeth sank into the mare's throat, cutting off any sounds. Eyes focussed ahead, she saw the stallion's head bent down to graze, unaware of his mare slowly dieing from suffocation and poisoning. As soon as the mare stopped struggling, Nemesis began to drag the body away, quietly and slowly making her way back towards Hellfire. She arrived a good whiel later, lifting her bloddied maw from the mare's side. "Usually I do so quicker, don't have to drag the body away. But it would be a shame to either ruin hunting for others or waste what could be a good meal." She explained. "If you take a bite, eat away from the original wound, there's still poison in there." She warned him.

"Knew you'd give in." At this, Hellfire merely snickered, and shook his handsome crown. He wasn't going to argue with this femme any longer about the consequences of being cocky mostly because she was right. And Hellfire had never been one to admit he was wrong. So, to avoid the topic all together, he dropped it.
"If so then stand back, don't wanna have to worry about you getting your ass trampled." At that, Hellfire's lips pulled back into a snicker, and he called after her softly "Last time I checked, you were the one who almost got your ass trampled." Having said that, he side-stepped to the side where he could observe from the safety of the shadows. He pulled his wings in tightly against his bodice, not wanting to give himself away because of them.
From his hiding place he peered out, and watched as the female looked for her first victim. From where he stood he could make out the lone form of the wolf stalking the mare. He then looked toward the stallion who was still grazing peacefully. The whole time the dumb ass didn't know one of his own mare's was under attack. He was impressed by how quickly she had taken her target down. There was hardly a noise. The stallion won't know what hit him. Hellfire felt his chest swell with pride for here was a wolf who knew what she was doing, and she had agreed to come to his pack for the most part. As she came into view with her prize he left his perch, and made his merry way toward her. A smirk was plastered across his maw as he listened to her explanation. "Usually I do so quicker, don't have to drag the body away. But it would be a shame to either ruin hunting for others or waste what could be a good meal."
"Yes, I figured so. You were quite impressive. So, you are willing to join the pack, are you not?"
|
He muttered, taking her warning into consideration before stepping forward to sniff it. It was a fine animal, one that would provide a good meal. He nodded slightly to himself, and just to be polite he allowed his incisors to sink into the mares flesh, and ripped himself a good chunk out. "Speech!" Nemesis snorted as she dug into the flesh of the now dead mare, right near the zone of attack. She and she alone was immune to her poinsons. That's why she usually caught her own food, so she didn't contaminate others. She then lifted her head, remembering his quote before she left.
"Last time I checked, you were the one who almost got your ass trampled." She swallowed and turned. "And for the record, I wasn't almost trampled, I was almost chased off, if I'd needed too I could have killed the bastard, just didn't wanna ruin the foals for next year." She snorted. She was lieing, sure, but he didn't know that.
You were quite impressive. So, you are willing to join the pack, are you not?" She looked at him incredulously. "You think I did that just to show off? Of course I'm willing." she sneered. "So we leave when we eat our fill?" She asked before digging into the mare again.

As she spoke about not wanting to ruin next years foals he laughed out loud, and nearly chocked on the meat he had been chewing on. "Whatever helps your dignity.

With that, he tilted his head to the side, and finished chewing on what was in his mouth. With that, he slowly stepped away. At her last quesiton he merely smirked, and said "I leave now.
